Lenten Devotion March 18

By: Aria Christenson
Readings: Psalm 31:9-16; Isaiah 54:9-10; Hebrews 2:10-18

“For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” –Isaiah 54:10

Courage, this Lenten season
Courage to encounter
The wilderness of my innermost self
Courage to claim the
Label of Beloved
I am Beloved
I am Beloved
How strange those words feel
To write into existence
Courage will lead me to
Unexpected places,
Unexpected conversations,
Facing the anxiety within
Doing things I don’t want to
And still doing them
It takes courage to realize power
Boldness to become who I am

Along the way I will be
Helped by loved ones
I will find rest with
The release of forgiveness
I will find strange graces
To face fear with courage
To face grief with strength

Some of the voices within
Will become distant
And others will only
Become more pressing
Who am I?
Who am I becoming?
