Readings: Psalm 126; Exodus 12:21-27; John 11:45-57
This is often considered a Community Lament Psalm, I think but it reads more like a Psalm of Trust—the ‘lament’ in the psalm is very minor and is swallowed up in the confidence that God will more than overcome problems by His abundant grace.
“Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him” (Psalm 126.5–6).
One of the lessons we learn from the life of Jesus (which is also echoed in this psalm), is that suffering must precede glory; but we can gain confidence on our pilgrimage through this knowledge.
