DC Homeless Memorial Vigil 2017

Join us December 21 for the start of a multi-day Homeless Memorial Event co-hosted by Luther Place Memorial Church and People for Fairness Coalition. The annual event remembers the people who have died on the streets of Washington, DC in 2017.

At 5 pm on December 21, we invite you to gather at Luther Place Memorial Church for a program with speakers and a blessing of local advocates, including Pastor Karen Brau and the Ambassadors of Praise. At 6 pm, the group will walk with candles and a casket to Freedom Plaza (approximately one mile). Some people will stay for an overnight vigil at Freedom Park to honor those who have passed. You are welcome to come for just the program at Luther Place and/or the march to Freedom Park.

People for Fairness Coalition’s mission is to end housing instability for individuals who live on the streets and in shelters in the Nation’s Capital through Advocacy, Outreach and Peer Mentoring.
