Families and Friends Fellowship
It takes a village to raise a child. Kids need time to interact with each other, their own parents, other parents, and other adults in a community of faith and love. Parents need time to interact with their own kids, other people's kids, and other parents and to share the joys and challenges of parenting. Some non-parents (or parents of grown up children) crave time to interact with kids on occasion. This group helps facilitate all these. This group is not intended to replace the wonderful education opportunities we already have in place such as Sunday School or Vacation Bible School. Check the Events page for upcoming Family and Friends activities.
GLBT Community Group
The GLBT group meets monthly for dinner for fellowship, friendship, and support. We meet at the home of Miles Harter. We generally meet on the third Sunday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
Men's Breakfast
A ministry of food and fellowship to men. We meet monthly on a Saturday in the home of one of the members to share breakfast, life events, fellowship and bible study.
Washington Inter Faith Network Community Group
WIN at Luther Place 1) builds relationships within the congregation aimed at identifying and building people's leadership potential; 2) looks for unmet needs in the neighborhood that could generate organized people and money to improve living conditions and 3) connects Luther Place and its members with WIN's citywide agenda.
We meet for 20 minute meetings once a month between services and with the larger WIN network on the third Monday of every month.
Seniors On the Move Group
The Luther Place "Seniors on the Move" ministry seeks to keep in touch with all of our senior members, especially those who can no longer make it to Luther Place. The Church has been an important part of their lives for many years and they have been and continue to be such an important part of our Luther Place family, so we bring Luther Place to them.
Young Adults Group
We are people in their 20s and 30s from a variety of backgrounds and interests who gather once a month on the first Wednesday to watch a film and discuss it over a potluck dinner. We also occasionally go on retreats together and enjoy other social activities together. We keep each other updated on service opportunities as they arise.
Eco-Stewards
In the summer of 2006, Luther Place members founded an ad-hoc committee focused on reducing our energy and environmental footprint, educating members and the public about environmental sustainability, and promoting grassroots activism for environmental causes. If you would like to learn more about Luther Place Eco-Stewardship, participate in our committee, or need assistance in greening your home, office, or congregation, please contact the church or click here.
